Three mountaineers survive extreme cold to summit 10,000-foot peak in far southern Chile.
Camilo Rada, María Paz Ibarra and Sebastián Irarrázaval reached the summit of Paine Grande. They had to face braving temperatures under the cero grades celsius, something hard to do if you don't have the necessary equipment to do it, they were challenging their lives to get to the top of the mountain. They were the first chilean team to get to the top, after two other expeditions, both foreigners.
The three mountaineers have plans to continue in new quests in the southern tip of Chile. Irarrázaval said that the plan next year is to, "…conquer Mt. Sarmiento, which is in the Darwin Mountain Range." He said that it is a very technical range and has all the characteristics the team is looking for in a challenge.
